When you think of the chemical industry, what’s one of the first things you associate it with? Chemical injury, right? Exposure to such hazardous substances can have severe consequences on the health and well-being of operators in these environments, therefore providing the highest level of protection is essential.
HSE laws and regulations are constantly changing in a bid to safeguard workers, but with continual change often comes confusion, and people find it difficult to keep up with the latest editions.
In order to maintain safe working environments, suppliers are continually developing safety apparatus to combat the issues faced. But the array of chemicals that workers encounter in differing industries means that there are now more products on the market than ever before.
A glove used to handle acids, but is only suitable for handling hydrocarbons, for example, offers very little protection for the user. So, having a specific glove for a specific chemical is great, but it also opens the risk of choosing the wrong product if operators aren’t up to date with the latest regulations.
Ansell have recently launched the AlphaTec® 53-001 range of gloves which have been specifically developed for all-round protection against a variety of chemicals – achieving ‘Type A’ protection (EN ISO 374:2016) for more than 30 minutes permeation time against 13 of the 18 chemicals on the list.
Boasting a multi-layer polymer construction (nitrile and neoprene), the innovative design is infused with the latest MICROCHEM™ chemical barrier technology providing superior protection in hazardous environments.
Built with a soft inner lining for added comfort, dexterity and enhanced grip with signature ANSELL GRIP™ technology suitable for handling wet and oily components.
Ansell have also introduced the AlphaTec 4000 suit and glove connector, which work hand-in-hand, as a trio, to provide the ultimate in chemical protection. The lightweight multi-layer fabric provides the wearer with high levels of comfort, with a double zip system, double cuff, and welded seams to reinforce the suit.
The innovative design of the Glove Connector utilises latest polymer technology, which creates a liquid tight seal between the glove and cuff. Quick and easy to fit, it works with a wide variety of glove thicknesses, providing a consistently reliable alternative to tape.
